Student Focused Outcomes

If elected as a board member of the PXU school board, Aden wants the board to focus on the most important group of individuals in the district: the students. By ensuring students are at the center of the board's mission, we can create the change needed to improve student outcomes. For a long time, the issue of student success has yet to be at the forefront of how the board creates its goals and program of work. That needs to change because when the people in leadership roles change the way they lead, student outcomes can begin to improve. It is time to start using data-driven practices that meet the district's and its students' needs to improve student outcomes.

For our students to succeed, we must equip our teachers with the appropriate resources. This doesn't mean just enough textbooks and other supplies, but also making sure they have access to training and professional development that is meaningful and applicable. Providing them with the proper resources also means receiving competitive pay that allows them to focus on teaching our students. When teachers and staff feel supported, they are more dedicated to ensuring our students succeed.

Preparing Students for Careers of the Future

When out in the community, Aden consistently hears how parents, community leaders, and employers wish students were able to learn skills that would be applicable in the 'real' world or in a job while in school. Many great programs within PXU help prepare students for these careers. Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs lead that effort with innovative programs that prepare students for careers of the future. That is why it is important that, as a district, PXU does all it can to expand and support these programs. CTE programs help students be more successful in school while teaching them the skills they need to succeed in their future careers. CTE programs also keep students engaged in their learning, and students who complete CTE programs graduate HS at a 93% rate.*
